Things I'm excited about right now...

1) Meeting Alex Band - I know you're probably tired of hearing about nothing but this (and the other thing I'm excited about lately) but it was a big deal for me. I had a great time at the show, met interesting people, and got to meet Alex at the end of the night. He's a super nice guy. I don't want people to think I just have a crush on him either. I have a huge amount of respect for him as a musician. I cannot get over how much work he put into this recent album and how good he is at connecting with his fans on a personal level. Dude is awesome, and I cannot say that enough.

2) Chris Hardwick - I was invited to be part of something really cool that Chris is working on. He started a street team (which he calls the Node Warriors) and has us doing what street teams are actually meant to do. It's actually a lot more than that. We have started almost our own social networking system and have been chatting on there about various other things (besides the usual planning that goes into an event). He's going to be in nyc next week, and I have a guest spot for Friday night. I invite anyone in the area to come along (but can unfortunately only guest one of you, which has tentatively already been taken by someone). It's going to be a fun night though and you should really come if you can. I'm also really excited because I'm going to get to meet Chris and whatever other Node Warriors are there that night. *squees with excitement*

Those are the two big things I'm excited about right now. August is shaping up to be a great month (which will probably make it even harder for me to go back to school, but oh wells). Hope everyone else has equally exciting things happening to them.

Happy Easter

Glee-ful over this promo

The promo for Glee got me so excited I wanted to share it with, well, whoever would listen.

I'm gonna go back to dancing around my room like a crazy person now.

Golden Globe Comments

Neil Gaiman was nominated for Best Animated Feature in the Golden Globe Awards last night for Coraline. He didn't win (to which I said "I cannot live in a world where Avatar is the best movie and Coraline isn't) but he and Amanda did go to the after party regardless, as Life.com shows us here:

While I love the photo, I love the description more.

"BEVERLY HILLS, CA - JANUARY 17: Musician Amanda Palmer (L) and guest arrive at NBC, Universal Pictures And Focus Features Golden Globes After Party held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 17, 2010 in Beverly Hills, California."

Amanda Palmer + guest? Neil was only the one actually nominated for an award. FAIL! Amusing, but still fail.

A Few Good Men

Seton Hall Theater brought us "A Few Good Men" this weekend. Since this has been my life for the past week, I thought I would share some highlights here.

First of all everyone in the cast did a splendid job. The leads were like Tom Cruise and Demi Moore but with more energy. Nicholson's part could have been more energized but it didn't seem to take away from the rest of the performance. Everyone I talked to said not only did they love the play but that it was probably the best Seton Hall had given them thus far. Looking at how well "Laramie Project" went that is most definitely saying something. A lot of us were worried the play was too long and would be too hard to put together in such a short time (we had about a month). That combined with the fact that tech week started the day we came back from break and you can understand why we were nervous. Not to fear though, because these giys got their act together and put on a fantastic show. I can not stop talking about it (and looking through the numerous pictures and videos that keep popping up on Facebook). I'm sad to see it end but I know it would have gotten old if it had continued much longer. Best to leave while all we have are the good memories : )

Happy Thanksgiving

This year I want to say Happy Thanksgiving with two amusing clips from The West Wing

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

It All Makes Sense At The End

Found this song about breaking up with Wikipedia and felt like sharing it:

Don't Stop Your Screaming

For every time this song has been butchered at a karaoke night

I will not Hold It In...

... the excitement felt over the killer show I got to see last night, that is. It was Day 1 of CMJ and I went to see my boys from Jukebox the Ghost rock the house at Bowery Ballroom. First great surprise was seeing the last minute addition of Lights Resolve to the line-up. I think they were filling in for Black & White Years but not sure. They put on a great, energetic set and reminded me why I used to love seeing them in the past. It had been over a year (at least, maybe two even) so I needed the reminder. Other performers for the night included Zach Williams, Stand (an Irish band) and Jukebox the Ghost. All performers impressed me with their sets, but what I was most excited about was getting to see Jukebox again. Even met two people who were equally (or possibly more) excited as I was. The set consisted of mostly new material that they have been working on over the past month, but there were also fan favorites "Hold It In" and "Good Day" (which they closed with). I had to skip the encore for fear of missing my train (which I missed anyway, but that comes later). I know the first song in the encore was Victoria though, which is another one of my favorites. Now about that train ride back...

Due to Subway delays I literally just missed my train. I pulled into the station at 12:34, which is when the train was scheduled to leave. I swore under my breath (sorta) and ran for the PATH station. Took the PATH to Hoboken and lucked out there. Turns out last train back from Hobokes to South Orange is 1:47... for future reference. Power-walked back to campus and breathed a sigh of relief at making it back in one piece (and at a semi-decent hour).

So those were my adventures from last night. Pictures should go up tonight, so I can do my post on Blogger. Next CMJ adventure should be seeing Alyson tomorrow.

11 days and counting...
